WLLIAVS AOWTS “TRESING PORTER Earle Theater Bandit Con- | fesses to Robbing Col- ored Man of $70. Elmo Willlams, Earle Theater bandit, confessed last night to a third robbery and this morning three formal charges had been placed against him. ‘The last confession was made after the victim of the robbery had con- fronted him and told detectives that Williams was not the guilty man. Wil- liams said that on August 1 he tricked Charles Kemper, a colored porter of the Peoples Drug Store at 1107 G street, out of $70. Kemper was on his way to the bank with money belonging to the company when Williams approached him at Tenth and G streets, wearing a Peoples employe's tag. Calling the porter by name, the bandit informed him that “Mr. Collins,” the manager of the store, wanted him immediately and wished the money turned over to him. Kemper gave Williams the money and upon_his return to the store found he had been robbed. Saturday night the porter came to police headquarters to attempt to identify Williams, He de- nied the latter was the robber. ‘Williams said he thought Kemper had about $1,000 in his possession and he would not have bothered With taking the money if he had known it to be such a small amount. Williams is charged with the rob- beries of Kemper, the Earle Theater and of David W. Bell, jr,, of 4318 Ninth street, then an employe of the People's Drug Store at Thomas Circle. The youth is lodged in a cell at the first precinct with his uncle, Thomas Edison Willlams of Tampa, Fla., also charged with robbery in connection with Elmo’s activities. Both will bé ar- raigned in Police Court tomorrow. CRUDE OIL ROYALTY BIDS TO OPEN ON JANUARY 12 Navy to Ask Figures on Elk Hills and Buena Vista Petro- leum Reserves.
