The World’s Richest Family. “Gulf Oil is not a company as well known publicly as some of the Standard Oil and other oil issues that are active in the market,” says the Wall Street Journal. “It is a curb stock, selling above $160 a share. Not many months ago it was selling below’ $100 a share. The largest holders of the stock are the Mellons. The street has it that they own close to 90 per cent, but this, of course, is a guess. If true, the Mellon family is likely to become the richest family in the world if Gulf Oil shares sell at a figure predicted by some who have been buying it. “There are 4,450,116 shares of Gull Oil outstanding. At 8165 a share the recent hight, the stock capitalization has a market value of nearly $730,000,- 000.” 69% 68} 68% Western Lumber Manufacturing Co. of | 9 9 Marshfield, Oreg. Golden Donaldson of the Commercial National Bank to former Controller Jo- seph W. McIntosh, an account of which appears elsewhere in today's Star, was a complete success. There were no ex- tended speeches, but the program of en- tertainment arranged by Thomas W. Brahany was unusually pleasing, the hundred guests reporting a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Other than to say he expects to enter the banking field in New York, Col. McIntosh has not yet made a definite statement regarding his future plans.
