REAL ESTATE. NEW APARTMENT BUILDING PLANNED Clifton Manor Corporation to | Erect Eight-Story Flat of Colonial Design. Plans for a new eight-story apart- ment building. having an estimated cost of $325,000, to be erected at 2514- 16 Fourteenth street, in Columbia Heights, were announced today by L. H. Charles, acting for the owners, the Clifton Manor Corporation. Bids now are being taken for the | project and construction is to be started in the near future. The building will be completed by August, 1929, accord- | ing to present arrangements. | The new apartment, which will be | known as Clifton Manor, has been de- | signed by Milburn-Heister & Co. of this city, and the site was acquired recently | by the corporation through the office of | L. H. Charles & Co., which also will bei rental agents. The building will be of colonial de- sign. with a facade of brick ornamented by limestone trimming and will be of fireproof construction. Service features will include wiring in all apartments for radio. mechanical refrigeration. incin- erators for trash disposal, high-speed elevators and soundproof partitions, the designers announce. There will be provision for two stores and 10 shops in the building, in addition to 56 housekeeping apartment units. The site has a frontage of 50 feet and a depth of 120 feet. The facade of the building will be featured by two bays on either side of the building front, the corners: of which will be ornamented by stone quoins, four stone urns set on the edge of the roof and a marquise over the entrance. > Linoleum for Child's Room. Bates Warren, past chairman of the division and head of the local re- ception committee. The opening session in Washington will be held at the Mayflower Hotel on | the morning of December 3, and there | will be a luncheon meeting at Ward- | man Park Hotel, followed in the eve- ning by a dinner meeting at the May- | flower. Convention in Three Cities. The annual convention of the divi- sion, which is the principal meeting of | the year for leaders in the co-operative | apartment_field, will be held progres- sively in the three Eastern cities, De | cember 3, 4, 5 and 6, the principal busi- |ness session to be held in New York | December 5. While in Washington the delegation will make an inspection of the larger | co-operative apartment developments of ‘|'the city as well as other residential de- velopments here. Definition of what constitutes & | soundly organized co-operative apart- | ment project has been placed by the | division in the hands of a national consultation bureau set up some months |ago to pass upon individual projects in | their formative stages. The work of the consultation bureau, which has heen recognized generally as an advanced step in self regulation by & business group, will be reviewed at a meeting of the executive committee of the division, which will be called in New York December 5. .
