The attempt on Mrs. Cross’ life came as a result of a quarrel concerning Greenagle's alleged use of liquor and was precipitated last night when Mrs. Cross put her uncle’s baggage on the front porch and told him he must leave, she reported to police. Greenagle came to live with her about a month ago from his home in Mem- phis, Tenn.,, Mrs. Cross declared. She objected to his use of liquor and re- peatedly warned him that he must cease. Last night she told him to leave, | she asserted, and when he refused, packed his bags and put them out. He became enraged and went upstairs for his revolver. When he re-entered | to_control the liquor problem. the room with the weapon in his hand, | | gate who was vesterday appointed offi- ploded. The bullet passed her h('ld.! and she ran to her room and locked herself in. A few minutes later she heard an- other report.
