Dr. Kraus says he has seen yeast used for years as a prescription for intestinal cleansing to eliminate harme ful bacteria and waste products.” In another interview Dr. Kraus also said of yeast: “As much as ten years ago we began here in Germany to give yeast. Most frequently it is used in certain diseases of the skin (boils, acne). “Usually one prescribes . . . one to three portions daily with the chief meals. For a quarter of a century his lectures at the great Charité Hospital, Germany’s leading medical clinic, attracted physicians from cvery country in the world and won for him the name, ““teacher of half the doctors of Europe.” His title, “Geheimrat,” is the highest the German State can bestow upon a professional man. Dr. Williams is famous in England as the originator of the ‘annual overhaul’ or yearly physical test for life insurance. ‘In examining candidates for life insurance,’ he declared in an interview here (London), ‘I fre- quently see people who, though they claim to be well, are nevertheless much below concert pitch. They are not ill, but they ail. ““For such people,” he continued, ‘I should recom- mend less feasting and more yeasting! “‘Yeast is more than a medicament—it rouses the system to full physiological efficiency, of assimilation and excretion.
