CHICAGO, August 24.—Sharp down- turns in wheat prices here today ac- companied news of warmer weather in Canada and of little or no damage of consequence from frost. Besides, ex- port business in North American wheat today was slow, amounting to only about 200,000 bushels. Com clso turned easier toward the last oviag to denials of earlier reports of frost at Sloux City, Iowa. i Opening unchanged to 1'g off, wheat later showed a decided drop all around. Corn, oats and provisions tended up- ward, with corn starting at 3 decline to 3; gain, and subscquently scoring a | general advance. Increased selling pressure against wheat went hand in hand today, with apparent total absence of expected frosts which had aroused fear of harm to the Canadian wheat crop. Yester- day’s buyers were prompt to unload purchases, and there was evidence also of hedging of newly harvested wheat. Another bearish factor was an estimate current that Argentina still has 55,000,- 000‘ bushels of wheat available for ex- | port. BONDS. PUBLIC UTILITY & Tz 45 ...
