Herndon of Falls Church Was Civil War Veteran. FALLS CHURCH, Va. March 22— Puneral services were held ‘Tuesday for John G. Herndon, former mayor of Palls Church, who died Saturday, at the age of 84 years. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Herndon was born near Warren- ton and was a son of Rev. Thaddeus Herndon, who served as pastor of the Antioch and North Fork Baptist Churches. He joined the Confederacy at 18 years of age and fought under Col. Elijah White and Gen. Thomas Rosser. He was disabled in battle. For a num- ber of years he was superintendent of th: Baptist Sunday School here. His ralty was many years ago. His death was the first in his immediate family in 46 years. Besides his wife, formerly Miss Alice T. Logan, whom he married 62 years ago, he is survived by the following children: Eugene G. Herndon, Mrs. Frances H. Smith of Falls Church, | Edwin L.
