Church Anniversary WETHODTS AR TTH ANNVERSARY Waugh Church Holds Special Services for Birthday. Bishop to Speak. The seventy. Waugh * Methodist Episcopa urch. Third and A streets northeast, is being observed with special exercises. - The | exercises started last Sunday and con- tinued through the week. A birthday | Party was held last night. | Bishop John W, Hamilton will preach the sermon tomorrow morning. There | Will be a special service at the Epworth League meeting at 7 p.m.. and at 8 pm. Dr. Alpheus 8. Mowbray will preach the sermon. Rev. William M. Hoffman, | pastor of the church, will preside. Waugh Church was organized in the Spring of 1853, the first meetings being held in a house at 316 C street north- ! east, with Rev. James H, Brown ss the T pastor. Later the house at 320 322 C street was ocupied. Owing | to the increased membership a large |+ tent was erected at 318 C street north- east. During that Winter a house was erected on that site which accommodated 100 people. The present church was occupied May 13, 1855. although the auditorfum was not _completed until three years later.
