12 CHURCH T0 ACQUIRE ADIOINING BUILDINE Presbyterians Authorize Pur- chase as Part of Anniver- sary Observance. As the first feature in the celebration of the 125th vear of its existence, the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church has instructed its board of trustees to purchase the adjoining building on New York avenue, in an effort to relieve, Ppartially at least. the overcrowded facili- ties of the present structure. The purchase of the property was authorized at the annual meeting of the congregation last night. The instruc- tiont to the board. of which John B Larner is chairman. were carried in a resolution offered by Dr. Charles W Richardson. The church can have possession of the adjoining building after November 1. according to Dr. Joseph R. Sizoo. pastor. The sale is being handled through the office of the C. Heurich, Jr, Realty Co. The purchase price was not revealed. ‘The bullding next to the church is a three-story brick structure at No. 1313 New York avenue. It has a 40-foot frontage and runs from New York ave- | nue to H street. Extensive alterations will be necessary to make it suitable for | Sunday School classes, young peoples’ Mmeetings, social events and other uses| to which it will be put, Dr. Sizoo | states. The alterations will also provide | for the construction of a small audi- torium in the building, it was disclosed. At the annual meeting it was als voted to raise a fund of $150,000 during this 125th anniversary year. This sum will be ided among the several activ ties of the church. including the pur- chase of the new building and the construction of a chapel on a lot now owned - by the church at Fifth and Longfellow streets. Walter C. Clephane presided at the CHURCH IN CAMPAIGN | TO RAISE ITS BUDGET | Presbyterian Congregation Asked to Provide Annual Expense Fund Approximating $30,000. The First Presbyterian Church is con- | ducting a campaign to raise its budget | for the year. The trustees and elders | have adopted a tentative budget for the | local church expenses of about $12,500, | and the payments on the site where the new chapel has been erected and where Sunday school is held Sunday morning | at 9:30 and preaching Sunday evening | at 8 o'clock amount to approximately $15.000 more, thus making an annual budget for the old First Church of most $30.000.
