Began Long Career as Clerk in 1889. By the Associated Proas ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., January 27— Garrett B. Wall, vice pn-lldcnl of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad, also identified with the administration of several strong financial institutions, died unexpectedly here last night after a brief illness. Despite the fact that he had been under a physician's care for several days, his condition' had not been con- sidered eritical. Born in Kentucky April 6, 1870, Mr. Wall was graduated from Washington and Lee University and the United States Naval Academy before beginning his long railroad career with the Ches- apeake & Ohio as a clerk in Cincin- nati in 1889. In 1897, he married Miss Louise de Montmollin of Ashland, Ky. Besides his widow, he is survived by two children, Martha and Garrett B, jr. From 1898 to July, 1910, Mr. Wall was real estate and tax agent of the Chesapeake & Ohio, and from 1910 un- til 1917 was assistant to the president of that railroad and also of the Hocking Valley Railway. He was vice president of both these roads at the time of his death. | Mr._Wall was prominently identified with the social and business life of Rich- mond, Va. where he had lived for a number of years MRS.
