. 30 ROOSEVELT CLUB INDORSES HOOVER Group in Massachusetts to Support Delegates Pledged to Secretary. ‘The Roosevelt Club, with headquar- ters in Boston, has indorsed for elec- tion in Massachusetts those candi- dates for dele; Herbert Hoover for President. ert M. Washburn, president of the club. makes this assertion in a letter to Senator Moses of New Hampshire, a supporter of the Hoover-for-Presl- dent boom. The honorary vice presidents of the Roosevelt Club are Col. Thedore Roose- velt, son of the late President, and . Corinne Roosevelt Robinson, er of th, late President. Reply to Senator Moses. Mr. Washburn's statement {s made in reply to a letter he received from Senator Moses, saying: “The Roosevelt Club seems to me to be missing out on a very great opportunity. “Why do you not lay before your members a proposal to indorse Hoover for President? You have been strong for Coolidge, and Hoover seems to be Coolidge’s rightful heir. “Why do you not acknowledge that Hoover has the strawberry mark on his left arm and is entitled to the residuary estate and do this through a resolution of indorsement by your well known organization?" Mr. Washburn, replying to Scnator Moses, sald: “The membership of this club has THE EVENING STAR. WASHINGTON. D. ¢. THURSDAY. JANUARY 5. 198, demonstrated that it is for Hoover by a majority vote over all the other presidential possibilities combined. The management is authorized to act for the club, and it is its policy to make effective the predominating sen- timent of the members. It belleves in the principle of the pledged dele- gate, that the party in the primaries should determine the presidential nominee and not the unpledged dele- gate in his fancy. It is encouraged in the position which it now takes by your appeal, which position it has for some time had in mind to openly take. “Recause of which considerations it indorses for election in Massachusetts those candidates for delegates pledged to vote first for Hoover for President and as long as his noraination is pos sible, and those candidates only."” of 86. who road, radio has been revived by a corpora- tion which is backed by the govern ment in erecting broadcasting stations in a number of cities. fic fatalities to 86. ‘nue, 2 Wisconsin 2 |pear at an inquest Dr. Joseph C.
