The roadway connecting Rock Creek and Potomac P way with West Po. tomac Park in the vicinity of the Ar lington Memorial Bridge will be car ried under the proposed steps, in stead of on the first landing, it was said today by Lieut. Col. U. 8. Grant 3d, executive officer of the Arlington Memorial Bridge Commission. is a proviso, however, that the posed by-path for traffic shall too expensive. Col. Grant said that he was having an investigation made now as to the probable cost, but that | he did not believe it would be too cost- ly. The method of getting cross traffic past the bridge has been the subject of some concern and mu discussion between the representatives ol the bridge commission, the bridge achi- tect and the National Commussion of Fine Arts. The Fine Arts Commission and the architects e decided that the traffic should be carried under the proposed steps, Col, Grant had planned to have the roadway on what would be the first landing of the steps, buil the others were of the opinion that it might mar the beauty to have a continuous line ing across the steps. TWO APARTMENT HOUSES ARE SOLD Sizteenth Street Structures Change Hands at Estimated Price of $675,000. pro- The sale of two large apartment houses on Sixteenth street having an estimated value of $675,000 was an- nounced today by the firm of McKee ver & Goss, which reresented the purchasers in the deal. The apartment buildings at 1616 Sixteenth street, elght-story structure having a frontage on Sixteenth street of about 65 feet and containing 56 apartments, has been sold by Eugene A. Smith to Azreal Furr, a Washing- ton investor. The building is of mod- ern construction and has a facade of brick with limestone trimming. The “consideration involved in this deal was reported to be about $450,000. Mr. Smith took title to the apart. ment house at 1916 Sixteenth street, formerly owned by Mr. Azreal. Credit of $225,000 for this building was in- cluded in the transaction. This build- ing, located between T and U streets, has a frontage of 60 feet on Sixteenth street, Mr. Smith recently acquired the property at 1616 Sixteenth street from Charles H.
