In addition to the gun firing, the wit- nesses” will see the methods of con- trolling the fire at aircraft. In addi- tion to- the 3-inch anti-aircraft gun, there also will be fired the 105-mm. gun and the .50-calibre machine gun. On the other side of the contest, planes will drop 600 and 800 pound demolition bombs on land and water, using instantaneous fuses, which will set off the projectile as soon as it touches the surface of land or water, as well as demonstrating the delayed fuses, when the projectile will go off only after the projectile pierced the land or water. This will complete the morning dis- play, and the 2,500 guests and mem- bers of the association will be served a réal Army meal to be prepared by members of the Army School for Cooks and Bakers, who have been or- dered from Camp Meade, Md., where they are stationed. Ordnance Equipment Display. After the food is served'the party will be taken to the main front of the proving ground, where ordnance au- tomobile equipment will be on display, and, incidentally, the Society of Auto- motive Engineers has been invited to be present. Tanks, tractors, automo- bile gun mounts and cross-country cars will be on display. Then the Field Artillery will bring on its latest, including French and American 75s, 155-mm. and 240-mm, howitzers, all of which will be operated and fired. This will be followed by the discharge of smoke bombs and the laying of smoke curtains, all of this part of the demon- stration being staged by the Field Ar- tillery unit from Fort Hoyle, Md. Upon completion of this the Chemi. cal Welfare troops from Edgewood Arsenal will discharge the various war gases, and then the meeting of the association will be held in the Administration Bullding. It will be presided over by Benedict Crowell, its president. Visitors to View War Relics. After the meeting the museum will be. opened and there the guests and members will be able to see modern and obsolete artillery, including cap- tured German material, as well as many freak engines of war, which have been tried and cast aside. Supper, Army style, will be served, by which time darkness will have swept over the ground, when there will be a searchlight display, picking airplanes high up in the air, and night firing at and from airplanes. The demonstration will end about 7:30 o’clock, SOCIETY PAVES STREETS IN LONDON’S NEW CRAZE Piceadilly Is Scene of Activity of Elite in Early Hours, When Night Life Palls, Correspondencs of the Associated Press.
