A. B. SHAW, 91, DIES. Western Maryland Land Owner Was One of Oldest Masons. Special Dispatch to The Star. BARTON, Md.,, August 2.—Andrew Bruce Shaw, 91, died at his home, at Moscow Mills, early Sunday morning. Mr. Shaw was a large land owner, much of which 1is underlaid with conl. He was a native of Moscow Mills, near Barton, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Willam Shaw, pioneer residents, his father having been a native of Cresaptown. Mr. Shaw for many years looked after the exten including the selling and leasing of coal mines and farming property. His activities also included merchandising and sawmill operation at one time. The estate is still of large propor- tions. Rev. Willlam Shaw, his grand- father, was a pioneer minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, having received his credentials from Bishop Asbury. Mr. Shaw was one of the oldest Masons of Maryland and was a member of Allegany Lodge of B: survived by one son. Lonaconing, and three daughters, loan nold, Keyser, W. Snyder, made her and Miss Patsy J. Va; Mr home with Shaw. CONA REESE DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS Wite of Militla Bureau Official Will Be Buried at Cedar Hill. Mrs. Cona Bowden Reese, 39 years old, wife of Elmer W. Reese and a res ident of this city for the past 16 years, died at the family residence, 69 Seaton place, yesterday after a long illness. Mrs. Reese was a native of Zanes ville, Ohfo. She was a member of Fi- delity Chapter, O. E. S., and the Rhode Island Avenue M. E. Church. She leaves her husband, who s chief of the supply_ division of the Militia Bureau, War Department; four children, Miss Helen ILouise Reese, Miss Martha Lucille Reese, Eleanor Mae Reese and George Elmer Reese: her mother, Mrs. Iva D. Bowden of Zanesville, Ohlo; a sister, Mrs. John Lynch of Zanesville, and two brothers, Hobert G. Bowden of Columbus, Ohio, and Howard Bowden of Kalamazoo, Mich, Funeral services will be conducted at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. R. Y. Nicholson will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. s MISS MARY DAW DEAD. Native of Alexandria Had Lived Here for Years. Miss Mary Virginia Daw, 65 years old, died yesterday at 824 Aspen street, the home of her nephew, R. Fred Daw. Her own home was 1324 Wisconsin avenue. 1 Miss Daw was born_in Alexandria, Va. Her father was Frederick Daw, an Englishman, who settled in Fairfax County and there married Miss Mary Sherwood, Miss Daw is survived by two brothers, Samuel L. and Frederick W. Daw, both of Washington, and two nephews, Lewis Daw of this city, and R. Fred Daw. She had lived Here since childhood. Fleharty, people’s counsel hefore the Public Utilities Commis- sion, announced today that he would not press at this time his suggestion to the Washington Gas Light Co. that the “grace” period for the payment of bills be extended from 10 to 15 days. Confederate Veteran, 87, Was Tal en Prisoner at Gettysburg. WINCHESTER, Va., August 2.— John H. Lockmiller, 87, Confederate veteran, died yesterday, at the home ot his daughter, Mrs. A. C, Racey, near here, Two daughters and one son, Joseph Lockmiller of Washing- ton, survive. Mr. Lockmiller was captured dur- ing the fighting at Gettysburg, Pa., and sent to prison at Fort Delaware, where he nearly died of smalipox.
