Ormiston, tech- nical editor of a radio publication, says that the emitting surface is sep- arated from the fillament, which simply used to heat the emitting sur- tace so that it will produce or throw off_electrons, as in an ordinary tube. ‘The heating filament has no electri cal connection with the other elements of the McCullough alternating current tube, he says, or the receiver, but the connections are let out the top of the tube and connected with the second ary winding of a stepdown trans- form, the output of which is only three volts.
