WINS ALOY IILLTAM AGEE, sensational harrier _of Emorywood Athletic Club of Baltimore, ran a heady race vesterda: win for the second consec- utive year the Alovsius Club's annual Washington's birthday 10-mile modi- fied marathon. Until about a half mile from the finish at the zero milestone in the Ellipse, Agee permitted David Fager- lund, Finnish-American Athletic Club Tepresentative, to set the pace. Soon after the start of the grind at the Aloysius Club the Finn hopped to the front with Agee right at his heels and the pair soon outdistanced the re- mainder of the field of 23. Mile and after mile the ieaders matched stride for stride with never more than a few yards separating them. Finally Agee sprinted and took the lead from Fagerlund at Seventeenth and B streets and went on to a healthy lead. which he main- tained until about halfway around the Eillipse. At this point Fagerlund managed to draw abreast of Agee, only to have the latter counter with & burst of speed that carried him far to the front and across the finish line & winner by 100 yards. Agee covered the distance in 54 minutes 725 secomds, bettering his time made in last Winter's event by 40 and 45 seconds The victory gave Agee permanent possession of the Aloysius Club trophy, a second leg on the Post cup and 2 gold medal. Agee and Fagerlund were in about five minutes ahead of August Fager of the Finnish-Americans, who was third.
