Three officlals of the National Broadcasting Company have gone to San Francisco, where they will join George F. McClelland, the company’s vice president and general manager and establish headquarters and stu- dios from which broadcasting pro- grams will be supplied to the com- pany's new Pacific Coast network of seven stations, KPO, San Francisco: KGO, Oakland, Calif.; KFI, Los An- geles; KGW, Portland, Oreg. KOMO and KFOA, Seattle, and KHQ, Spo- kane, Wash. They are George J. Podeyn, new! appointed Pacific Coast manager Gerald Chatfield, supervisor of pro- grams, and A. H. Saxton, Pacific Coast director of operations and engi- neering. Mr. Podeyn and Mr. Saxton will remain at the San rancisco headquarters permanently, while Mr. McClelland and Mr. Chatfield will re- turn to New York following the in- augural program of the Pacific Coast network, scheduled to occur early in April. Hawaiian Program. A new technique in broadcasting will be attempted during Collier's Weekly revue, to be heard from WJZ and the National Broadcasting (‘om- pany's blue network, WBZ, KDKA and KyW ¢ night. The story to be broadcast will be the most recent work of E. Phillips Oppenhéim. It will be a dramatic fiction feature of a program to_include selections by the Revue Studio Orchestra, vocal solos and radio novelties. A patriotic theme will run through the program in anticipation of Wash- ington’s Birthday and a striking com- mentary the virtues and failings of the first President, by Willlam L. Chenery. Another party of scientists of the Geological Survey is preparing to survey and explore the vast tract of country in Alaska north of the Arctic | of ‘the Canada-Alaska boundary. Gerald Fitz Gerald, who led a party into the area last Spring, already has | left Washington for the West Coast ill saii February 26 from Seattle Seward, where he will go north to Fairbanks, via the Alaska Rallroad, and by dog team to Fort Yukon. Delay Likely on Building Figures for Next Year. With the end of the present session of Congress rapidly drawing near. the Bureau of the Budget vesterday rushed ahead with its work on the estimates for next year's public build- ing appropriations, but there was no indication as to when they may be submitted to Congress in the shape of a deficlency bill. The Bureau of the Budget has had for several days the extensive reports from_the Treasury and the Post Of- fice Department as to proposed build- ing during the next flscal year. The submission to Congress has been expected momentarily, but late today it was considered likely that the matter might go over still another ay. Irvin 8.
