THE EVENING LUTHERANS PLAN S130003 CHURCH Campaign to Raise Large Sum to Be Launched by Atorement Congregation. The congregation of the Lutheran Lhurch of the Atonement will launch & campaign to raise $150,000 among its members and friends to go toward the erection of a ne® building at the northeast corner of Rhode Island avenue and North Capitol street. It will be under the *direction of Dr. F. H. Divine of Brooklyn, N. Y. The campaign will begin December 20 and continue to January 2. Plans are being made to appoint teams, with a captain at the head of each, from members of the church. These teams will meet nightly and make re- Ports on their progres: _The building will be constructed of North Carolina granite, with Indiana Umestone trim. The seating capacity will be about 600, with space avail- able for expansion as needs may re- quire. There will be a social hall, Sunday school rooms and kitchen with afl modern equipment in the basement. Space for a large organ and echo organ is provided. There will also be seating space for a Gholr of 30 in the western transcept. The tower will be approximately 100 feet high with room for a full set of chimes, CHURCH CLUB TO HEAR BISHOP TUCKER SPEAK Meeting of Periodical Society to Be Held Thursday in Epiphany Parish Hall. Murdock, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Rock- ville, Md., will be formally installed as assoclate pastor of the Potomac Helghts Community Church, this city, tomorrow evening at 7:30 o'clock. The installation sermon will be delivered by Dr. W. L. Darby, executive secre- tary of the Washington Federation of Churches. Mr. Murdock is an alumnus of West Virginia Wesleyan College (Methodist Episcopal) and of Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Va. (Southern Presbyterian). The Potomac Heights Community Church is the outgrowth of a com- munity Sunday school which was organized about four years ago by a company of persons who represented several different denominations, but who united on the basis of their agreements as to the Christian life. The first meetings were held in a room in a grocery store. Later a site on Cathedral avenue just north of Conduit road was purchased and the first unit of a church building erected and equipped.
