By the Associated Press. MEXICO CITY, October 4—Cons gressman Juan Salas Barrasa of the State of Durango, who confessed to killing Pancho Villa in 1923, according to a story published by Excelsior, has refused an offer of $50,000 for a two- months’ appearance in theaters in the United States as the slayer of the notorious bandit. Excelsior says Barrasa told Mexico City newspaper men that recently he struck up an acquaintance with an unnamed American on a train be- tween Durango and Mexico City and learning of his record, promptly offered him $50,000 to exhibit himself in theaters. Barrasa refused with considerable indignation, but says that when fur- ther conversation revealed the Amer- fcan was unaware his offer carried offense, he contended himself with making it clear that he did not in- tend to become a ‘“‘sideshow freak.” A floating debt isn't a success as a life preserver.
