Dumont from France, will go to New- port today to be the guests of the president of the Naval War College, Rear Admiral Willam V. Pratt, and Mrs. Pratt. Mrs. Pratt will entertain at luncheon tomorrow in compliment to Mme. Dumont and Mile. Dumont, and her guests will attend the dance she will give Friday evening for her niece, Miss Gill Johnson. Mrs. Wiliam J. Donovan, wife of the Assistant to the Attorney General, has gone to Newsort, where she is at the La Forge. The secretary of the Italian em- bassy, Signor Vitetti, left Washing- ton last evening for Saranac, N. Y., where he will spend several weeks. The attache of the Venezuelan le- gation, Dr, Ovidio Perez, has gone to New York and will sail August i for a vacation in his home in Venezuela. He is at the Waldorf-Astoria. United States Consul and _Mrs. Harry M. Lakin and their son Edgar will leave the end of this week for York Harbor, Me., for a vacation, and from there will go to Mr. LaKin's new post as consul at Montreal, Canada, and administrative officer to the con sul general, Mr. Albert Halstead. Mr. Lakin, accompanied by his family, re- cently returned from South Africa, where he has been for a year and a half consul at Durbar, and since his arrival in Washington has been on temporary duty at the State Depart- ment. Mr. Lakin's home is at Lex- ington, Va.. and he was appointed to the consular service in 1915 from Pennsylvania, first serving in the Near Eastern Affairs Division, from where he was appointed vice consul at Langhorne, Italy. Mre. George Mesta. left Washington 1ast evening for New York, where she will spend a few days before going to Quebec. She will sail from Quebec August 4 on the Empress of France, | accompanied by Miss Lillan Wash- burn Newlin. Mrs. Mesta will travel extensively in Europe, spending some weeks at Blarritz, and will not return to Washington until October. Mrs. Robert Dickey, jr., and her two children, who have been visiting Mr. Dickey’s mother in Dayton.
