It is planned to have the water in use by July I, 1927. Aside from the value of water from Washing- ton for the purpose of house service alone, the benefit to the county of this service is ines- timable. We have had excellent fire protection in the past, but the coming of water is certain to better this protection. An adequate supply of water for the motor pumpers now in use by the Fire Department will soon be assured. The victory for the “wets” over some slight opposition in some of the more remote sections of the county is another indication of the pro- gressive spirit of the people of Arlington County, who are making this the coming section around ‘Washington. The residents of Lyon Village came out 100% for water, and it was due to such efforts that the overwhelming vote for water was polled.
