The wet bill, proposed by Senator Fdge, Ropublicun, New Jersey, was designed, he sald, to put the home- brewer on a parity under the law with the farmer in making fruit juices and cider non-intoxicating in fact for home consumption. The proposal made several weeks ago by the Treasury Department to kive the police force of the District broader powers in the enforcement of * prohibition wus retained ‘in the revised enforcement blll introduced in the Senate late yesterday by Senator Goft, Republican member of the Judiclary’ committee. ‘This measure, which also provides additional authority for the enforce- ment of the prohibjtion law nationally and on the high seas, probably will be acted upon at a meeting Tuesday morning of the judiciary subcommit- tee which has been studying the dry problem recently. While the bill in troduced by Senator Goff has not been passed upon yvet by the committee, it was drafted after the prohibition sub- committee had given some study to the several pending measures for tightening up on enforcement. * | .
