Va., May 4. —Neill Carper, 29, is in jail here following hig confession to an at- tempted hold-up of the Norfolk and Western Railway station at Shenan- doah Junction early vesterday morn ing. Carper told railroad detectives wiio arrested him that he wanted money to get to Cumberland, Md., to marry a girl whose name he did not divulge. As he sat in the station thinking of how to get the money the hold-up idea. occurred to him. He painted his face to mask the features and used a cigarette holder as a pistol. The station man outwitted him, however. Half an hour later Carper turned up again at the station and asked to buy a ticket.
