64 FURRIER ABSOLVED IN WILLIAMS THEFT New York Police Free Him Without Arraignment on Charge of Robbery in D. C. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, April 30.—Benjamin Winkler, a Brooklyn furrier, was re- leased without being arraigned late yesterday when the police announced he did not have “criminal knowledge"” of the robbery of the home of Mrs. Norma Williams of Washington, D. C., March 7. Winkler was arrested by a Wash ington policeman and a New York officer at his heme and placed in the line-up at headquarters vesterday morning before being questioned. The Willlams robbery was per. petrated by six men, who cowed Mrs Williams, a guest, and six maids with revolvers while they stole $3,000 worth of jewelry. The robbery oc- curred only 10 minutes after Mrs Williams had placed §250,000 worth of jewelry in a safe.
