THE 0) Prohibition’s Adoption told by Wayne B. Wheeler aloon League of America General Counsel Anti-S FIRST ARTICLE TOMORROW, SUNDAY A week from Monday, on April 5th, hear- ings begin.before the Senate Judiciary Committee on bills designed to modify prohibition in the United States. Thus the Nation is about to take stock of the results of the Eighteenth Amendment. The inside story of how that amendment was carried through has never been told, and it is of special interest at this time. It will be told in The New York Times in a series of eight articles, of which the first appears tomorrow. These articles are published solely as an important contribution to the discussion of prohibition and without prejudice to either side in that discussion. Outline of Contents Sunday, March 28—Laying the Foundation. Licking Mark Hanna— “Make it Safe for a candidate to be dry.”—Wilson and pro- hibition—the first national victory—the general plan of campaign—Daniels and Bryan try to keep Wilson in line— the first declaration for na- tional prohibition. Monday, March 29—Organiz- ing for Prohibition. 50,000 speakers working for prohibition in 1916—annual expenditures of $2,500,000 a vear—making Congress hear from home—a campaign in every Congressional district.
