* THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C, SATURDAY, MARCIT 20, 1926. 5 Chavy, With Face Like a Disaster, Here |THREE NEGROES HELD |BRYAN MEMORIAL To Get Manners for Head-Hunting Pa By the Ascociated Press. SAN FRANCISCO, March Chavy arrived in town yesterday, her face tattoed into the general resem- blance of the well known futurist palnting of a lady falling downstairs, but with her hair hobbed and her con- versation heavily larded with an Eng- lish accent. Chavy is the daughter of a chief of a tribe of nude head-hunters who live in the wild interior of Peru. The fu- turist effect on her face is to show her noble origin as the progeny of the great chief Campa. She is be- trothed to another head-hunting chief, although she is but 13 years old. 20— | & party of missionaries that has lived The girl, who was brought here by in the Peruvian hinterland for 16 years, has accepted clvilization, al though Campa, her sire, still stalks his breakfast in his birthday suit and eats In the unconventional manner made famous in the Fiji Islands. Campa has no hopes for a hereafter, Harland E. Stevens, head of the mis- sfonary party sald, but he is willing to have his daughter find out all she can about It. - Chavy will remain here for a month to soak up as much civilization as possible. Then she will return to her tribe und endeavor to teach the mighty Campa some table manners. { & -l e l- 9 g ; Ki ce Asks ng Georqe ,A ) By the Associated Press. .
