Six automobile accidents in Wash- ington terminated fatally during the four weeks endng January 30, the Com- merce Department announced today in accidents in 79 large cities. The six deaths from January 2 to January 30 campared with 15 deaths from auto- mobile accidents in Washington during the four weeks ended January 2. At the same time the Department an- nouncd automobile fatalities for the -weeks period ended January 2,19 were 88 in the District of Columbia. Four hundred and thirty-four persons were killed in automobile acci- dents in the 79 citles in the four weeks ended January 30, 124 less than the deaths for the preceding four weeks, which included the holiday period, and lower than the number for any four-week period since May 23, 1925, Yew York’s automobile fatalities in the period covered numbered 75 against 82 n the precidling four weeks, while Chicago was second with 57 deaths, as corpared with 41, followed by Los Angeles with 21 deaths as against 19, and St. Louis with 15 against 18 in the preceding four weeks, S .
