KING WOULD AMEND CIVIL SERVICE LAW Senator' Studying Methods Used by Private Business So as to Im- prove Federal System. Legislation to provide for a study of the civil service law as it compares with methods followed by large pri- vate corporations is being considered by Senator William H. King, Demo- crat, of Utah. The Senator has not put his thoughts into the form of a bill, but said he planned to discuss the proposal with a number of other Senators following the Christmas re- cess. Senator King sald his main objection to the civil service system, as it now operates, is that it permits inefficient workers to remain in the Government departments for life and does not al- ways reward the efficient.
