Decem- ber, 20°10; January, 19.38; March, 19.33: May, 19.03; July, 18.67. The market opened at unchanged prices to a decline of 9 points with the active months showing net losses of 6 to 12 points under a renewal of commis- slon house liquidation, Southern and local solling. The relatively steady showing of the early Liverpool cables seemed to be offset by the tendency to increase estl- mates of the crop, but absorption of the early offerings steadied the market around 19.37 for January and 19.01 for May. In addition to cover ing some trade buying was reported and while trading continued active, prices showed rallles of a few points from the lowest by the end of the first half hour. Three more private crop reports were issued this morning, and esti mates of the yleld ranging from 15 300,000 up to 15,646,000 bales. New Orleans Quotations. The enormous ex. pansion in Stock Exchange dealings, has stimulated a corresponding de- mand for unlisted {issues. Many popular stocks now traded in on the “big board” are said to have received thefr first ‘“priming” In over-the- ‘ounter trading, such as General Rail- way Signal, Eastman Kodak, New York Canners and Ingersoll-Rand. TRADE VERY BRISK. Previous Christmas Trade Records Will Be Broken. | Dispatch to The Star BALTIMORE, December The holiday volume of trade this year will break all previous records, according to merchants. Buying began earlier than usual and is now in full swing. Initlal orders placed by retail dealers were larger than they had been for several years, but despite this fact re- peat orders have been numerous and restocking continues brisk About the only complaint heard is that the mild weather buying of seasonable goods. There is seasonal slowing down in wholesale lines, but dealers report sales hav been large and that they are rounding out one of the best vears they ever realized. Outlook for 1926 is promising ROCKVILLE, Md., December 7 (Special).—The development of co- operative selling will be ‘one of the principal matters to be given atten- tion by the Montgomery County Farm Bureau the coming year, according to Josiah W. Jones, president of the or- ganization. Much dificulty has been experienced In interesting the farmers in the co-operative plan of disposing of their products, principally becaus of the proximity of the Baltimore and Washington markete, them to haul by truck. The farm bu reau, however, has, it is said, experi- mented sufficiently to be in a position to glve assurances that by selling through a common agency much han- dling is eliminated and better prices obtained. A greater volume of busi- ness in co-operative buying will be aimed at by the farm bureau the com- ing vear, in addition to developmeint of the co-operative selling idea, so the farm bureau people state. The last big publjc meeting in the campaign of the farm bureau to_ increase its membership, which has been in prog- ress several weeks, will be held in Masonic Hall, at Galthersburg, next Saturday evening, with Miles H. Fair- bank and Frank M. Payne, State or- ganizers, as the principal speakers. A meeting of the board of directors will be held here Tuesday, when re- ports from the membership drive will be submitted and plans completed for the remainder of the campaign. ‘The annual banquet of the People's Life Insurance Company was held at Dixle Tavern here Saturday evening with a large number of officers, su- perintendents of departments and others in attendance. The event was in honor of the Rockville branch, which led all of the 18 districts in in- crease of business during the year which ended November 23. E. M. Dod- son, superintendent of the Rockville branch, was toastmaster, and short talks were given by B. W. Chiswell, F. L. Leith, J. C. Duke, W. S. Hall, V. R. Rudd, W. A. Compton, E. C. All- nutt, F. H. Heaton, George Gaver, J. M. Young, W. Bready, M. Jenkins, H. W. Tally, George Pryor, King Cole and others. Cyril Spencer, young resident of the lower section of the county, was found guilty by Judge Samuel Riggs, in the Police Court here, of operating an au- tomobile while under the influence of liquor and was sentenced to jail for 30 days. He is a brother of Roy Spen- cer, recently convicted of a similar of- fense and given six months in the house of correction, and who appealed to the Circuit Court, where he was found gullty again and is now await- ing sentence. Spencer Connelly of the Hunting Hill neighborhood was tried by Judge Riggs on such a charge but was acquitted. C. K. sympathy ). All Spe B RECORD WHEAT SALE. Bankers have pointed out, however, that the question of a change in the New York Federal Reserve rate | still overhangs the market and that this uncertainty acts as a restrictive influence. With the Treasury's $450,- 000,000 offering of new certificates out of the way, it is believed that less objection will be raised to an increase in the bank rate. ROAD'S NET DOUBLES. ATLANTA, December 7 (Specfal).— The increase in freight movement in the South s strikingly illustrated in the figures of the Atlanta, Birming- ham and Atlantic Raflroad, which show that the net operating income this Fall has in some months be twice that of 1924.
