DESCRIBES TOC H CLAN. Theme of Speaker Before Episco- pal Laymen’s Association. Coleman Jennings was the principal speaker at the meeting of the Lay- men's Service Association of the Episcopal Church in the diocese of Washington this week. He described the Toc-H Clan of Washington, which has established a home for men at 1748 Florida avenue. The clan is modeled on the clans organized in England immediately after the close of the war. The requirement for membership and the use of the privi- leges of the house is the undertaking of some definite work of Christian service. A committee was appointed to ascertain how the association could best co-operate with the clan. Reports were received from the committee on Spiscopal Home and from the com- mittee on the dlocesan periodical. George R. Wales described the prog- ress that had been made in securing and maintaining a home for aged and infirmed Episcopalians. He pointed out that although much had been ac- complished, the facilitles of the home were totally inadequate to meet the need. Parish committees In all the Episcopal churches of the city were engaged in raising funds and arrange- ments were in progress looking to- ward securing larger quarters. The association will make an effort to secure during the next two months a thousand new subscribers for the diocesan paper. H. D. Amiss, the newly elected president of the associ- atlon, presided.
