By the Associated Press PARIS, September 10.—The problem of how spiritualist mediums can_be improved until the day apparatus for communication with the epirit world was one of the chief points discussed in the International Spiritu alist Congress yesterday. The subconscious medium was de- scribed as always troublesome, never | being “a pure scientific instrument One speaker quoted Thomas A. as saying that it would be possible to find apparatus to replace the medi- ums. The Belgians, it was disclosed, already are experimenting'with a cry; tal ball and the French with an ultr: violet ray. The congress approved the creatio of “medium houses” In all countr to relieve mediums from the necessity of working all day for a living &nd so | being too exhausted at night for ex-| periments, One of the most important resolu-| tions adopted was that spiritualists| must leave their laboratories and face | the irony and skepticism of the world by making experiments before the | eves of great crowds. The need for propaganda was discussed. Rituals for spiritual baptism and marriage cere monies were drafted. How much & ghost weighs was a question brought up. The Metaphys ics Institute of Paris, using a sens tive electrical scale, claims to have established the fact that ectoplasm has weight “How much did it welgh?" reporter. ““About as much as & mosquito’ asked a ual group JAILED FOR SIX MONTHS AS DRUNKEN DRIVER Rockville Man Penalty by Judge at War on Traffic Peril Given Severest | comes when | they may be superseded by scientific | | Suicide’s Body Floating From Canada ve- | the job. The fact is that the heating value of gas is actually higher during cold weather than it is during hot weather. The reason for this is that the heating value is in- areased one per cent for each five per cent de- crease in temperature of the gas. However, the starting temperature of the food and water that must be heated in cooking will be colder in winter than in summer; therefore, a larger quantity of heat will be needed to bring the food or water to the boiling point. This ex- plains, briefly, why more gas is used for cooking in winter than in sum- mer. “If It's Done With Heat, You Can Do It Better With Gas” LT - Tudge |8 = Judge | o Woman Says Spouse, Once Accused Sabelle Nitti Crudelle.
