Four persons are reported to have been killed and about 100 injured in the smell villageiof Borculo, in eastern Holland, near the German border, when it was struck by a typhoon, which lasted several minutes, last night. The village is a mass of ruins. Both churches were demolished and not a single house escaped dan: Other villages in the ge. stern part of Gelderland province seriously dam aged by last night’s storm are D . During the hurricane an airplane crashed on the Catholic Asylum at Ruurlo, killing three people. The center of the storm was at Bor culo, which has 5,000 whabitant; thousand of them a rest are living in the ruins of their homes. EL PASO, Tex., August 11.—S8ix adobe mercantile establishments crumbled in and four other business houses were damaged when a heavy rain which fell Sunday swept down from the foothills five miles northeast of Fabens and rushed into that town. Fabens is a thriving cotton center 30 miles below El Paso on the banks of the Rio de. The main busi- ness houses were not damaged. Crews today were cutting holes through the pavement'and draining the water into the river and drainage ditches biggest damage was to the telephone company building and the residence of it6 owners. All the build- ings ruined were made of adobe. Last week residences and cotton lands at Fabens were damaged by high water from the Rio Grande. HARRISONBURG, Va., August 11 (#).—The disappearance of Mrs. Martha Moates Baker of Stokesville, Augusta County, January 8, ‘was Solved when forest rangers found the body in a ravine in the mountains. VIRGINIA PILOTS LOSE $80,000 IN RATE CUT State Orders New Schedule Sep- tember 1, Hampton Roads Put on Parity With New York. By the Associated Prese. RICHMOND, Va., August 11—A new schedule of rates for the Vir- ginia Pliots’ Assoclation carrying a decrease in gross annual receipts of approximately $80,000 was fixed in an order entered yesterday by the Vir- ginia State Corporation Commission. The rates will become effective Sep- tember 1. Pilotage charges will be based. on the draft and tonnage of the ship, rather than on draft alone. The | pilot association which operates in the Hampton Roads area had requested irc ~eases amounting to approximately £70,000 above the revenue fixed by the new order. | The new rates, it is sald, are at| least 10 per cent under the schedules submitted by the shipping and port interests that appeared at the hearing here In March to oppose the petition for_increases.
