24 NEGROES WARNED | OF SOVIET MEETING. President Green of A. F. of L. Says Labor Congress Is Inspired by Communists. A warning to nezro members of trade unions not to attend the Ameri- | can Negro Labor Congress at Chicago. October 25, was issued last night by | President Green of the American Fed-y eration of Labor. Declaring his organization had not | approved the meeting. he asserted that Communists had called it to mislead negroes into helieving “all their griev ances will be remedied by overturning | the Government of the 1'nited Stat and establishing a Soviet republic and o instill into the lives of that race the most pernicious doctrine—race hatred. Citing “glittering phrases” used in the call for the congress, he said “negroes are led to believe that the dark races of the world are in rebel- lion against the whites. and that all they need to do is form an American labor congress and ‘all social. political and economic discrimination’” will be wiped out Called Communist Bodies. The originators of the congres from their headquarters in Chicago, he asserted. are conducting a number of Communist organizations with in- terlocking directories working under the direction of Moscow. A number of unions compesed of | colored men have heen deceived into sending delegates. id Mr cen. “They have been led to believe they will attend a convention of union negroes. The fact is that the con-| vention was called by men who are | not members of trade unions, or, if | they are, do not attend the unions of which they are members. The or- ganized labor movement is expelling Communists as rapidly as they are found out. ‘Although there cannot be more than a few hundred Communists in the country, they give an impression, because of their noise-making propa- ganda, that there are millions. T wish to warn all negro members of trade unions that they are being led into a trap that will eventually be their un- doing.’ PRIVILEGES WITHHELD. S. Treasury Agents Denied Dip- | lomatic Status by Germany. RLIN, August 10 (#).—American ry agents will not be accorded ratic privileges in connection | with their investizations of German exports to the United States. This statement was made vesterday by the Berlin Tageblatt, which adds that the| German government has decided to ollow the precedent set by other | European governments in this respect.
