KILLED BY GRENADE. West Point Army Man Found Deadly Explosive—Another Hurt. WEST POINT, July 27 (®).—Sam- uel Clapper of Seattle, Wash., at- tached to the Quartermaster Corps at the United ‘States Military Academy, died yesterday in the post hospital from wounds suffered last night when a hand grenade exploded. Charles Kirchmeler, who also was wounded, will recover, physicians say. Clapper, with Kirchmeler and others, found the grenade in the course of a walk, academy authorities learned to- day. It was suggested that Kirchmeler throw it. The grenade exploded and Clapper received a slug of metal over the heart. The body was prepared for shipment to Seattle.
