U. 5. ISSUES AGAIN Conflicting Price Moves Mark Today’s Trading in Bond Market. BY GEORGE T. H Special Dispateh to The Star NEW YORK, June Continua- tion of the upward movement in United States Government bonds was agal the feature of the investment market today. 3 New high records were made by the fourth 41 Liberties, the Treasury 418 and the Treasury 4s. This re- markable demonstration brought con vineing proof that bankers, who are almost the whole purchasers of Gov ernment securities at present levels, do not expect higher money. no matter what the temporary fluctuations in call rates. Railroad Bonds Uny The fourth 41, Liberties mature in 1938, but are callable in 1933, so may be regarded as medium term. but both Treasury issues are long-term investments, the 4ls not being re deemable until 1947 and the 4s not until 1944, It is significant then that this demand expresses itself just as strongly for -the longer maturities. | The third 41 Liberties, due in 1928, now the short-term Liberty bond, was simply steady around or just below | the high of the vear. The vield in this case is only a small fraction over 3. per cent.
