Br the Associated Pre CHICAGO, May 6.-—Wheat prices rose wildly today during the early dealings. =~ Announcement that the Spanish government had purchased 2,225,000 bushels of Canadian and { United States wheat was chiefly re- sponsible for the upturn in values. Ag- gressive buying of future deliveries here, especlally on the part of houses with ‘Seaboard connections, accompa- nied the news of the Spanish purchase. Opening prices, which ranged from % decline to 1 advance, May 1.0 to 1.61% and July 1.50% to 1.52, were followed by a sharp ascent all around, with May touching 1.66 and July 1.54. Corn and oats displayed independent strength. Offerings were scarce, and there was considerable talk that avail- able supplies of corn are inadequate to fill minimum requirements of the next six months. After opening at % off to i3 up, May 1.08% to 1.08% and July 1.11% to 1.12%. corn climbed to 1.10% May, and 1.14% July. Oats started at 14 lower to % higher, July 43% to 44, and later showed a moderate gefteral advance. Provisions reflected upturns in the | price .of corn and hogs. Open. Low. CORN— May .
