8 SOCIETY: SOCIETY ‘President and Mrs. Coolidge Have as Guests Mrs. Butler and Daughter of New York. RS. NICHOLAS MURRAY BUTLER of New York and her daughter, who were guests at the White House for a short time, are return- ing to New York today. Mrs. Coolidge had with her in the White House box at the Washington Auditorium_yesterday afternoon Mr. Justice and Mrs. Stone, Dr. Jason Noble Pferce and Mrs. Plerce, Mrs. Nicholas Murray Butler and her daughter. The Secretary of State and Mrs. Kellogg will be the guests of honor at dinner this evening of the Ambassador of Chile and Senora de Mathieu, who “will entertain a company of 32 Ambassador of France Returning From New York. The Ambassador of France, M. Emile Daeschner, will return tomor- row from a brief visit in New York where he is staying at the Plaza. The I’resld(‘nl-ele(’l of Cuba, Gen Machado, will be the guest of honor at a reception this evening which the charge d'affaires of Cuba and Senora da Padro will give in the embassy ,on Sixteenth street. The guests will number about 400 and will include officials, diplomats and members of the smart residential circle. The em- ‘bassy, built by the land republic while the present Secretary of State, Senor Dr. de Cespedes, w: Ambassa- dor, is well adapted for such state functions. The charge d'affalres and Senora de Padro with Gen. Machado end his daughter, Senorita Machado, will receive the guests at the door of the reception room and there will be dancing in the ballroom at the head of the great stairway. A buffet supper will be served in the dining Yoom on the west side of the balcony at 11 o'clock. Gen. Machado and his party sailed this morning aboard the Sylph for Mount Vernon, where he placed a wreath at the tomb of George Wash- ington. A buffet luncheon was served aboard the vessel on the way back to Washington. Among those with the distinguished visitor were the charge d'affaires of Cuba and Senora de Padro and the Assistant Secretary of State and Mrs. J. Butler Wright, This afternoon the party is visiting Arlington, where a wreath will be placed on the grave of the U nknown Soldier by Gen. Machado.
