Three children, all under 10 years age, and two adults were struck by attomobiles and slightly injured in traflic accidents vesterda: Wil- liam Chambers, jr., four old, of 1400 Belmont eet was knocked down by an automobile while playing on Florida avenue between Fifteenth and Sixteenth streets. Hospital treatment - w fused and she was taken home. Miss V. B. Booker, 122 Fifth street southeast, was struck by an automo- bile while at Eleventh and F streets vesterday afternoon. Leo Donovan of 3533 Warder street sustained injuries about the right side, face and hands when his motor cycle and a taxicab operated by Brady J. Brandenburg of 2139 Pennsylvania avenue collided at Eighth and D streets northeast early today. Dono- van was removed to Providence Hos- pital in the taxicab for treatment. His _condition is not serious. William Adams, 520% K northeast, narrowly escaped injury when the automobile he operat- ing on Connecticut avenue, just above Livingston street, collided with a trolley pole of the Capital Traction Company. The pole broke off, but Adams was not struck. The automo- bile was slightly damaged. FINANCIER DIES AT 73. John H. Springer for Years Was Prominent in Business. NEW YORK, April 17.—John H. Springer, financier, who was well known for his activities in the be- ginnings of both the automobile and motlon picture industries, died at hi: home yesterday at the age of 73. For many years he had also been engaged in the lithographing, printing and en- graving business in both New York and Chicago. Mr. Springer had interests in thea- ter holdings along Broadway, and once was identified with Oliver Morosco as a theatrical producer. HELD IN WIFE’'S DEATH. Special Dispatch to The Sta; HAGERSTOWN, Md., April 17.— .| The village of Clearstring, Md., west of here, was threatened with destruc- tion by fire last night. The colonial home of Dr. H. C. Foster was de- stroved at a loss of $10,000, and spread of the flames was prevented by fire companies from this and other citfes.
