Special Dispatch to The Star. HAGERSTOWN, Md., April 15 (Spe- cial).—James T. Briscoe, 65 years old, former publisher of the Daily Mail of Hagerstown, died last night about an hour before news was received by his relatives that Judge John Parran Bris- coe of Baltimore, a brother, had died in_a Washington hospital. James T. Briscoe was a son-n-law of the late former Gov. William T. Hamilton of Maryland and a son of the late James T. Briscoe, former Secretary of State of Maryland. He is survived by his widow. He had been in ill health about one week. Following an operation at Emer- gency Hospital last Friday, Judge John Parran Briscoe of Baltimore died there last night at the age of 74 years. Judge Briscoe was admitted to the bar in 1875, and practiced law at Prince Frederic Md. In 1879 he was appointed State Attorney for Cal- vert Count Md., and served in that capacity for one year, after which he became assoclate judge of the seventh judicial circuit of Maryland. From 1890 to January 8. 1924, he served as judge of the Circuit Court of Ap- peals at Baltimore, one year during the time he was president of the State Bar Association. Dr. John P. Briscoe, jr., of the Farragut apartments, this city, survives. Besides this son, he is survived by Norwood and Lawrence M. Briscoe, other sons by his widow. w!m was Miss Kate M. Bowen of Woodville, Md., and by three daugh. ters, Mrs. Lucy L. Knox, Mrs. Wil liam S. Pye and Miss Kate M. Briscoe. HOYLE, DEAD Aged 95, Celebrated His 70th Wedding Anniversary in February. Joseph H. C. Hoyle, 95 years old, veteran of the Civil War, who with his wife, Mrs. Hoyle, celebrated his seventieth wedding anniversary Feb- ruary 13, died at his home in Barnes- ville, Montgomery County, Md., early today after an illness of only a few days. On the occasion of their seventieth wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle were congratulated by. their 48 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who are scat- tered practically all over the world. Mr. Hoyle served in the Civil War as a recruiting officer for the Confed- eracy, his chief duties as told by him, consisting of transporting_man ,and horse over the Potomac River into the Confederate lines during the night Mr. Hoyle is survived by his widov:, six sons, Ernest, Clayton, Jones, Wil liam, Elmer and Charles Hoyle, all except Elmer living in the vicinity of Barnesville: three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Neel, Mrs. William A.
