GLENDALE, Calif, April 13.— An automobile, which for 16 years had served the household of Leslie C. Brand, capitalist, philanthropist and community builder, yesterday bore the wealthy man’'s body to its last resting place in the Ver- dugo hills north of here. The car was driven by Fletcher Pomeroy, who had been Brand's chauffeur ever since the machine was pur- chased, in 1909, The funeral services at the Brand estate home were attended by scores of prominent southern Cali- fornians, including Mr. and Mrs. Willlam Gibbs McAdoo. Mr. Brand, who for many years had been prominently identifled with the development of southern Californi: and who was known here as “the father of Glendale,” died last Friday after a prolonged illness.
