ON LIVING MODELS In the Various Fashion Sections Third and Fourth Floors THE EVENING The New Spring F Will Be Informally Shown Tomorrow and Wednesday Never before has the Mode known such distinct and sharply defined changes as one notes this season. The Spring Opening will there- fore be particularly interesting to every woman — matron or miss. We will exhibit in a delightfully informal way the various Paris- sponsored stvles, in their new and authentic versions, on living mod- els, so that you may see exactly how they appear when worn. We hope you will attend this showing. Georgette Ensembles Are Delightfully New The most artistic and chic version of the ensemble idea is seen in new cos- tumes which consist of a coat of georgette, sometimes fur bordered, worn over a dress of plain or printed crepe. One model has a coat that is handsomely embroidered in block de- sign; or large placques of satin rib- bon may carry the decoration, as in the model sketched at $59.50. Worn with the coat, one has a smart dressy street costume, while the frock worn alone makes a very sports-like costume. Misses' Section, Street fioor Balbriggan Frocks Sponsored by Paris Couturiers Important in any sport’s wardrobe is the simple frock of Balbriggan—a very fine, soft, knitted jersey. Bal- briggan blouses are combined with pleated skirts, inverted and side pleats, in the new two-piece style. Natural, green, blue and bois de rose shades. $25 and $45. Sportswear Sectios, Third fioor Two-Piece Frocks Are Boyishly Simple The Two-piece Jumper Dress finds a place along the Avenue of Fashion because of its simplicity of line and because it is essentially youthful. Indicative of this mode is the model sketched, which has the new circular skirt, overblouse with the Byronesque collar, and a flowing polka dot tie that spells youth. In blue Drurylaine, $29.50. (Misses’ Section.) A knitted frock in jumper style, with Jacquard collar and banding on skirt, is merely following the two-piece mode, $25. Flannel and silk have been developed in this style from $16.50 to $39.50. Misses' Section, Fourth oor. Sportswear Section, Third floor. The Coat for Spri‘ng Is Ttim or Elaborate A fur border of blonde fur accents the slimness of the dress coat for Spring. Light-colored flannel, doe- skin, Marchette and Ottoman silk fashion these new coats, some of which have a circular flare. The collars are short and, in most cases, furless. The model sketched is ter- rapin suede-finish cloth of light weight trimmed with blonde fox. $75. (Misses’ Section.) Other models from $49.50 to $125. For the trim, mannish person, the Prince of Wales Coat is decidedly smart in tweed or British Wembley fabric. The outstanding details are the double-breasted effect, the velvet collar, the belt in back only, and the mannish opening down the back. $35. Women's and Misses' Cost Sections Third and Fourth Soors. The “Hope” Jacket Attracts Attention The Hope Jacket is a smart sports- wear fashion, in white and tan colored flannel bound in silk ribbon. Straight hanging, with sleeves and small pockets. This garment is worn by the unengaged girl as the mark of identification of the miss in- terested in matrimony. $15. Sportswear Section, Third fioor. The Compose Frock Achieves Success For versatility, in both the manner and time of wearing, the Compose Frock has met with unanimous ap- proval. It is the costume’that starts out as a hostess gown for the after- noon tea—a loose, graceful dress of georgette, but by simply .removing the outer part, one has a smart, sleeve- less dinner or dance frock, of differ- ent color and style. One extremely clever frock of this style is developed in gray and mauve, $59.50. Women's Gown Section, Third floor. Paris Gray a Fashion-Favored Shade A gray that is soft, just the color of smoked pearls, is Fashion’s latest shade. Handsome cnsemble costumes, and gowns of pleated georgette, or combinations of satin and crepe, use this subtle new shade for distinctiveness. Ensemble Costumes, $195 to $225;° Gowns, $39.50 to $59.50. . ; Women's Apparel Section, Third fioor. STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C, MONDAY, MARCH 9, 1925. The Crown is the Importan Feature of the Spring Hat The millinery mode is full of variety and subtle distinctions, but the crown of the hat tells the story. If it is new and smart, it will be moder- ately high, but shaped and fitted to the head by means of tucks and dents. The brim in the back is made to conceal the shingle in a clever manner. A very new note is the use of satin and velvet for trimming, as well as ornamental pins of rhinestones. Gray, red, lilac and three shades of green are the predomin- ating color notes. Millinery Section, Third fleor. The Lace Frock is Inevitable Wherever Smart Women Gather For the formal afternoon hours every woman will want at least one of the new Lace Frocks en- dorsed by Paris. Frocks of georgette have godets and trimmings of lace dyed to match in color, or dyed lace worn over a slip makes a stunning new gown. Everywhere one sees the frock of antique filet lace, with colored satin slip, and ribbon girdle to match. As sketched, $59.50. Women s Gown Section, Third fieor. Colorful Prints Fashion Many New Frocks Printed crepes in a multitude of lovely patterns, printed chiffons and printed georgettes lend their charm to many Spring frocks. Conventional de- signs, grill-work patterns and huge floral effects are variously used. An afternoon frock of printed chiffon has the front fullness that features the newest styles, and the large yellow roses printed on a dark ground are most effective. $59.50. Women's Gowa Section, Third foor. There’s Plenty of Variety in the New Spring Ensembles THE ENSEMBLE SUIT consists of a coat of wool or silk, worn over - dress of the same ma- terial as the lining of the coat, or in some instances as the coat itself. Oiften the lining and frock are of the popular printed crepes, or they may be of self-colored flat crepe trimmed in gold braid, or cretonne outlined in gold thread. Whatever the combination, it is chosen with the idea of matching the coat and frock, which may, however, be worn as separate garments. 8uit Sectiom, Third foor. THE SKIRT ENSEMBLE is made up of the new shoulder strap skirt, usually of high colored flannel, with which is worn a peasant blouse, embroidered in gay cross-stitched colors, or a mamnish blouse of English broadcloth in match- ing tones. Skirt, $8,50. Blouses from $1.95 to $5.95. THE BLOUSE ENSEMBLE — Beautiful printed crepes and crepe de chine made in the new hip-length blouses with a pleated or wrap- around skirt to match. $19.75 to $25.
