Carroll has, indeed, proved himself a pecullar genius. Gayety\—:"rawn Scandals.”| Harry Le Van, better known as “Hickey,” is at the Gayety Theater this week with a show that ranks among the best of the season. “Hickey" is a comedian of original methods with an exceedingly comlcal make-up that makes one wonder what he really looks like in street clothes. In addition to his comedy work he does a sketch with Lettle Bolles that gives him an opportunity to show that he is a planist of no mean ability. This sketch made quite a hit last night. Le Van has two capable comedians to assist him in Joe Yule and Joe Van. The comedy is good, and, in fact, the whole show Is just one laugh after another. One of the best features is a dance number by Harris and Rooney, which made last night's audience sit up and take notice. James Rooney may be one of the family of dancing Rooneys and then again he may not, but cer tainly he would do them credit. He is easily the best clog dancer in bur- lesque, and his partner, Thelma Har- ris. knows practically every step he does and executes them with a skill and grace that is certain to win ap- proval. A lively young soubr new to the Gayety is Nack. She apparently time keeping still and is turning cartwh or doi Lettie Bolles ality. An instrumental musical turn by Manny Kohn, with his violin, and Jim De Pinto, with his piano-accordion, is a veritable show-stopper. They play- ed everything from jazz to the classics and had to go through their whole list of pieces befors the au- dience would let them stop. The chorus was the subject of much favorable comment by the patrons «fter the show, and justly so. The girls were on their toes at all times and gave their song and dance num- bers with a srap that denoted lots of interest in the work. Mutual—"Whiz-Bang Babiefi .
