EW YORK, December 15.—Violent bullish demonstrations in several spe cialties, reflecting the operations of | eculative cliques, featured today's -k market, which closed irregularly higher. Jersey Central soared 21 points, and several industrials were run up 4 to 10 points. Total sales - approximated 30,000 shares. The closing was irregular. Heavy slling for both accounts took place in the late trading, standard industrials and rails holding fairly well, but a num- ber of gninor specialties falling below esterday’s final figures. NEW YORK, December 16,—The event of the day in bonds was the ad- vance oversubscription to the new Greek loan, which will be offered Wednesday to the amount of $11,000,- 000, with 7 per cent coupon and priced at 88 to vield 8 per cent. The British portion of this Greek loan was so largely oversubscribed that allot- ments were cut down to about 3% per cent and It appeared that might be duplicated here. In London the bonds went to a 7-point premium. Forelgn Group Strong. Whether it had any connection with, the Greek loan or not, the fea- ture In other foréign bonds today way the advance under heavy trans- actions in Hungarian 7i3s. Probably a Hungarian 71 per cent bond at §8 looked out of line with a Greek 7 at the same price. It Is characteris- tic of the present market, however, that a new issue Is almost certain to sell higher than a seasoned bond of approximately the same investment rating. The Chinese RaHway 5s rallied | sharply after the break following an- nouncement of default on the interest due December 15. Continued heaviness featured the high-grade finvestment list. The United States Government list was | steady except that the Treasury 4%s were lower, while the new 4s changed bands at about the same premium as on Monday.
