Nego- tiations, he sald, were proceeding be- tween the British and Egyptian gov- ernments on the question of protec- tion for féreign - interests, and ho hoped matters would take a normal course in the near future. The premier declared there were in- dications of the British government's intentions, and the fact that King Fuad had nominated Sir Geof- frey Archer governor general of the Sudan showed that the Anglo- Egyptian condominum in that ter tory was being respected. Regarding the Alexandria munic! pality's refusal of the government' request, made in accordance with its recent agreement with Lord Allenby, to treat the foreign officials of the munictpality si > government servi pressed the opinion that the city au thorities had not fully considered the question. The municipality had only consid- ered the financial aspect, whereas the question also had a political side. Tho government was ready te advanca the money needed to comply with th: request, he added. Tha POLISH AND RUSSIANS IN BORDER AGREEMENT ‘Will Resume Normal Traffic, Long Complicated, Over Ukraine Frontier. By Cable to The Star and Chicago D: VIENNA, December 11.—The Poli: and Soviet conference at Lemberg has resulted in an agreement for bringing of normal traffic over the Ukraine frontfer. Hitherto the crossing of the frontier was complicated. It was necessary to change trains and to un- dergo many restrictions which the agreement abolishes. The Northern frontier has been the | scene of several arrests of Soviet com- . missaires at Vilna. They were sus- pected of spying. Several Polish of- ficers, who were visiting their rela- tives, have been arrested by the Soviei authorities near Minsk, (Copyright, 1924, by Chicago Dally News Co.) — CANS FOR OYSTER BEDS. Experiment by Cnmhfldge Packers Expected to Iucrease Supply. Special Dispatch to The Star. BALTIMORE, Dccember 11.—Orvster packers of Cambridge are now trying out the experiment of using old tin icans to propagate oyster beds. The packers, according to State Conservation Commissioner Swepson Earle, are going to ses what kind of a “mother” a tin can can be to & young oyster. Recent experiments show that the young oyster clings to anything that has a,rough surface. The Cambridge packers—at least two or three of them-—believe the oyster spat will catch on a rusty tin can. In such an event ,the.can would corrode and dls- integrate by the time the young oys- ter is ready to decorate a raw bar plate. If the experiment is successtul, it is believed thousands of otherwise useless ‘tin cans could be utilized to increase the oyster supply. Hyattsville Firemen Elect.
