ARMY SUPPLY ORDER FOR LIQUOR REJECTED Customs Officials Hold Requisition for 14,604 Bottles of Confiscated Stock Is ‘“Excessive.” By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, October 2.—Customs Is and the United States attor- ney's office believed an Army supply officer’s requisition for 14,604 boltles of confiscated whisky to be so “ex- cessive” that the matter was taken up with the War Department, which agreed with the officials. “The local supply officers will have to make a more modest request next time.” according to John Holley Clark, assistant United States attor- ney, pointing out that the local requisition was equal to one bottle for every nine men and officers in the entire Army. Asked to explain the exact num- ber of bottles of whisky called for The Hecht Co. C.. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1924. in the rejected requisition, Mr. Clark sald: “The requisition specifically askec for the whisky seized two years agc on the steam lighter Napeague, whict was captured as a rum runner. Thi: seizure amounted to 14,604 bottles, a: was accurately stated in the requisi tion. The Army must have learnec that this secizure consisted of ex ceptionally good stuff.” 0’CONNOR SCHOOL OF EXPRESSION Fall Term, Oct. 1st Mills Bldg., Penna.
