Marriage Amnounced of Lowthia: . Proctor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clagett Proctor, was married in Seattle, Wash., Fri- day, September 19, to Mr. Joseph W. s thian. The ceremony was per- formed by the Rev. Archibald Mack- intosh, pastor of the Gatewood Bap- tist Church. in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Willison, at 3528 Sunnyside avenue. The Willisons were neigh- bers of the lowthian family at Plumpton, England, before coming to this country Mr. Thomas Lowthian was best man for his brother, and Mrs. Mamie Ver- million Youse, formerly of this city, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Mrs. Lowthian is a member of the Society of Natives of the District of Columbia and the sixth in descent, on both her father's and mother's side, from two of Washington's old- est families—the Hines and the Crown families—who settled here prior to 1800. She has resided in Seattle for the last two vears, and has a host of friends and acquaint- ances in this city. Her father is one of the vice presidents of the Associa- tion of Oldest Inhabitants, and her grandfather, Mr. J. C. Proctor, also lived in Washington Mr. Lowthian is the son of Mrs IEmma Lowthian of Washington State and the couple are now honeymoon- ing in Canada. Washington, D. C., will be included in the itinerary, and they will be at home during the month of October, in the home of their parents, 1233 Madison street, Brightwood. They will permanently reside in Seattle, where Mr. Lowthian is stationed. Miss Maud The marriage of Miss Peggy Fred, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hamilton Fred, to Lieut. Robert Gordon Hunt took place yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock in Alexandria, Va., the Rev. Dr. Hammond officiating. The bride was given in marriage by her mother, and wore a three- piece suit of dark blue tricotine and a black velvet hat, with ribbon trimming. Mrs. Fred wore a black satin-faced crepe gown, with & hat to match. and Mrs. Preston Day, aunt of the bride, who motored to Alexandria with the wedding party, wore a dark blue gown, Ywith a brown coat and a henna hat. Mr. Day, uncle of the bride, also attended the wedding. Lieut. and Mrs. Hunt will make their home in Washington, and the former will sail for Hawaii in January and Mrs. Hunt will be with ker parents during his absence. Former Senator George B. Martin of Calettsburg, Ky. who was ap- pointed to succeed the late Senator Ollie James, is at the New Willard, where he arrived vesterday. He plans to remain until early next week.
