TEACHERS URGED 10 WIN PENSIONS Enaction of Sound Retire- ment Legislation Hailed as A Aid to Students. Delegates attending the sixty-sec- ond annual convention of the Na- tional Education Association were urged at the opening session of the general assembly in the Central High Hchool auditorium this morning to fight for sound teacher-retirement legislation by Philip E. Carl cipal of the Roosevtlt High Sc Minneapolis, reborting on teachers’ vetirement allowances for the com. mittee on the problem of retirement allowances of the N. E. A, : Mr. Carlson emphasized that the form of teacher retirement legisla- tion which promises most in benefits to the public also promises most in benefits to the teacher, and that the support of sound teacher retirement legislaiton on the part of all teach- ers is a professional duty. State-wide teacher-retirement sys- tems are now in effect in twenty-one states and the District of Columbia, AIr.
