'HE ambassador of Belgium, Baron de Cartler, went to New York yesterday and will sail Saturday on the Lapland #or his home. He will join Baroness de Cartier in Paris and they will re- main abroad for the season. The secretary of the embassy, M. TRaoul Tilmont, will be charge Q'aftaires of Belgium during the absence of the ambassador. M. and Mme. Tilmont will remain in Wash- ington until the late summer when he will return to Belgium for several months' stay, where he will be in the foreign office, returning here in the winter. Mme. Tilmont will make a series of visits in the north leaving in August. The ambassador ot Japan, Mr. Masanao Hanthara, was the guest of honor at a large tea yesterday after- noon given by Bishop and Mrs. J. Ames De Wolf_Perry in their home at Providence, R.
