4 GROUP URGES UNION . OF ALL METHODISTS D. C. Spokesmen of Southern Branch Favor Joining With Northern Churches. PROPOSAL WILL BE FPUSHED Quarterly Conferenece Meets at Mount Vernon Place. Unification of the Methodist Epis- copal Church and the Methodist Epis- copal Church South was indorsed by more than 100 representatives of the seven M churches sbuth of the District of Columbia at & meeting last night at the Mount Vernon Place M. . Church South This action by the representatives of the southern Methodist churches is regarded as of special significance, in viaw of the competition of the twe churches here Rossel Edward Mitchell offered a resolution favoring the proposed uni- fication. 1t was voted to adopt the resolution and to instruct the rep- resentatives of the local southern M E. churches who will_attend the neral conference at Chattanooga. Tenn., July 2 to present this action to the conference and urge its adop- tion. This action by local churches' mem- bers last night was not taken in con- nection with the quarterly conference which was being held. It was fol- lowing the conference that Mr Mitchell presented the resolution and the action was taken The quarterly conference was pre- sided over by Dr. E. \'. During the last ten years a stone guild hall has been built and from time to time walls of the same stons have been bullt around the old wooden structure At Christmas, 1922, the new stone wano- tuary was used for the first time.
