‘NEW PASTOR TO TAKE UP POST TOMORROW Rev. Joseph Sizoo to Preach First Sermon at New York Avenue Presbyterian. — Eev. Joseph R. Sizoo of Somerville, N. J., will begin his pastorute at the New York Avenue Presbyterlan Church tomorrow morning, when he Wil preach on “The Supports of Life,” and at the night services on ‘God-Sent.” The morning service Will be broadeast by WCAP. . Rev. Mr. Sizoo, whose home was in Chicago, received his elementary and high ‘mehool education in that City. In 1903 he entered Hope Col- lege, Michignn, graduating in 1907, When he enterod the Rutgers Theo- logical Seminary at New Brunswick, N. J. He nas also taken post-gradu- {le work at Columbia University. In 1911 he accepted a call to the First Reformed Church of Walden, N. Y. During his pastorate there he was president of the New York State Uhristian Kndeavor Union and for several years a trustee of that body. Wan Chaplain tn War, In 1017 he accepted a call to the Second Reformod Church of Somer- ville, N. J., which became and is one of the un.rn churches of the Re- formed denomination. The New- York Avenue Presbyterian Chureh has purchased & new manse, 3100 Cathedral avenue, where the new pastor and his fafmily will re- side. The trustees of the church \have equipped a study at the church | for their new minister. When Rev. Sizoo and family arrived at Union station the church had awaiting them am automobile which has been placed at the new minister's disposal. He will be installed pastor of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church next Tuesday, at 8 p.m. Rev. G. C. Peck to Preach. Rev. P. Plans Special Exercises to Be Held First Week in June. The fiftieth anniversary of the Mount Tabor M. P. Church, Wiaconsin avenue and 3th street, is ‘o be cele- brated the first week in June, which will inctude a grand reunion of its membership past and present. The corner stone of the original building svas lald in 1874, at which time it was a mission of Congress Street M. P. Church. Its first pastor was Rev. J. A. Weigand. The site was contributed by Joseph Weaver. When a mission the church was first known as Mt. Pleasant, but was changed at the suggestion of Capt. James D. Cathell. The original building has been en- larged on two different occasions. Rev. Frank T. Benson, now editor of the Methodist Protestant, was at _one time pastor of the church. From 1904 to 1908 Rev. J. Ernest Litsinger was pastor. The church has had twenty- Tour regularly assigned ministers. At the time the United States entered the world war Rev. Ralph J. Wright was pastor.
